Delicata Classic Wine Festival

Emmanuel Delicata is Malta’s oldest family-run winemaker, established in 1907. This fourth generation winemaking company is the island’s largest producer and has received almost a century of  international awards for its wines from France, Italy and the United Kingdom.

As well as producing a wide range of quality Malta wines the company plays an active role in educational and marketed related activities both for the Maltese people and the tourist alike. A good quality locally produced wine will always enhance any holiday planned by the more discerning tourist. Wine has played an important part in the Mediterranean for thousands of years and provides a unique insight into any country’s culture and lifestyle. The crisp, fresh and fruit driven wines produced by Emmanuel Delicata reflect the hot climatic conditions and complement the Mediterranean style of cuisine perfectly.

Cultural events aimed at promoting such culinary combinations are the very successful Delicata Classic Wine Festivals held each year in August at the beautiful Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta, and in Nadur the viticultural heart of Gozo in September. The festivals coincide with the start and finish of the Maltese grape harvest. In 2007, the winery centenary year, two ‘one day’ wine festivals were also introduced in St. Paul’s Bay at the north of the island and in Gozo capital, Victoria.

The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is Back

The Marsovin Summer Wine Festival is practically a stone throw away, being held on the 10th,11th & 12th July at Hastings Gardens, Valletta, with all preparations set to give way to this 8th edition – 2015. It is the time of the year when Marsovin invites everyone to celebrate the Culture of wine by having all our wines showcased into one venue and accompanied by the best local musical talent on the island.

Music line-up:
A few of the artists in this year’s line-up include Malta’s leading bands: Red Electrick, giving an unplugged acoustic set; Airport Impressions, one of the most successful bands to have emerged locally in recent years; The Creepers, a cutting edge vintage blues band; Kazinska, a talented seven-piece ensemble giving their own cool interpretation of ‘banda marches’ & Xarulù, an upcoming act playing acoustic versions of many popular songs with a distinctive twist. More live acts and chill out music are among other attractions that we have lined up for each night of this special event.

Cuisine:
Marsovin has engaged various restaurants and caterers to showcase their cuisine, offering a small but enticing selection of dishes at very reasonable prices. Renowned Asian fusion restaurant – Temptasian will be manning a sushi bar, Xara Palazzo Bottegin will be setting up for their famous 12 hour smoked pork; Eat Me I’m Famous – will be offering freshly made pizza on site, Zammeats will be present with premium cold cuts & cheese, Chukkas Grill will be chargrilling a variety of meats, and last but not least Il Carciofo will be preparing an array of mouthwatering traditional fresh pasta & Maltese dishes.

How does it work?
All those attending the wine festival have the opportunity to purchase a €15 token package fee, which includes a premium festival wine glass to take home and €15 worth of wine tokens, with which one can either taste up to 20 different wines or drink a selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle. Alternatively for those who are not wine drinkers but still want to mingle around and enjoy the live entertainment, a variety of non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available for sale.
